I celebrated my 27th birthday with style at Kab Kem, an Asian bar-restaurant owned by the same owners of the Thai House. I went with friends who like to have fun, especially when it comes to wine, and tasty food on the table.
The menu is very varied, there are lots of equal options for vegans\vegetarians as well, and I totally recommend sharing dishes in abundance. I came with a fishes vibe and luckily I had a partner, so we decided to share some yummy fish dishes from the menu.
We started with an amazing dish to open the starters session, Sup Makheua (48 NIS), crispy sea bass fillets, eggplant puree from Chiang Mai, crispy skin and a soft quail egg. You must eat it in a bite, to enjoy all the textures together and get the flavors accurately inside the mouth. #yammmmm
We continued with a dish that in my opinion is suitable for every palate, Popiya Tale (54 NIS), two homemade spring rolls, with sea bass and fresh herbs. I'm almost certain no one in the world would say he doesn't like spring roll, especially with fish inside, so it's really a dish that must be loved. Must admit I ordered it twice with great pleasure. #yammmmm
Another dish I ordered twice is Miang Pla (48 NIS), Chunks of sea bass in 2 iceberg lettuce cups, lemon grass, fresh scent leaves, cashew & tamarind. Not everyone may agree with me that it is a winning dish, but I was very attached to the crunchiness of the lettuce and cashews and the special taste of the sea bass in the dish. #yammmmm
I decided to try one dish from the vegetarian\vegan menu, Yam Malako Toht (42 NIS), julienne cut crispy papaya on two iceberg lettuce cups, cherry tomatoes, longyard beans & peanut. Must say I did not have the spark, it just did not work out so well between us. #yammmmm
Now hold on tight, because 2 servings are coming that are wow. We'll start with Yam Nhem Pla (NIS 76), crispy chunks of sea bass that cured, in a spicy salad with ginger, shallots, chili, coriander & peanuts. There really are no words, super special flavors, every bite is perfect, do not leave the restaurant without this dish in your mouth, you will thank me. #yammmmm
The other is Pla Toht Samun Pai (72 NIS), crispy sea bass fillet with a spiced salad of "Samun Pai" and cashews. The spice salad that comes in the dish is so delicious and together with the sea bass it is a combination that is hard to even imagine. A must have, for sure! #yammmmm
We finished with the 2 desserts that were on the menu that day, a kind of sweet spring roll of banana and tapioca. Very cute desserts, I tasted tapioca for the first time, and it was really nice, and maybe it's my private issue with tapioca, but it wasn't for me. The spring roll was cute too, a nice end to the meal. #yammmmm
It's a #yammmmm
